For a while now, I have been working on the concept of “Perfect Last Bite.”
Basically, it involves me saving little bits of food so that the last bite I have at a meal is the perfect embodiment of taste.
Here are a few examples of some recent perfect last bites:
- Cheeseburger – just the right amount of burger, cheese, bun, and condiments
- Ceasar salad – a perfect mouthful of romaine lettuce, dressing, chicken, and crouton
- Taco – all the right flavors in all the right proportions
Today was special because it saw the dawn of a new culinary creation and a perfect last bite: homemade egg salad on a toasted English muffin, topped with green olive slices. Deeeeeeeelicious!
Has anyone else tried to master “Perfect Last Bite”? What are some of your favorites?
In other news, today was a crazy-busy day preparing for the Camino. I ran a bunch of errands, made a bunch of phone calls, and now I just have to see if everything I purchased will actually fit into my backpack at a reasonable weight. Details. I’ll load it up tomorrow and see how it goes.
I hope all is well with everyone reading this. I’m really starting to miss my old town and friends and network there. At the same time, I’m also ready to get going on this crazy Camino adventure. It’s time to make this dream become reality! Less than four days to go…

I saw a movie where a lady made every bite the perfect bite. It was sorta a quirk about her that the guy of the movie fell in love with. Only I don’t remember the name of the movie now. I think he was a math professor and she was an English professor. But anyway, your post made me think of that movie. Hope the last preparations are going very well!

For any dish that involves bacon, a little bit must be saved for the perfect last bite.

Thanks Christy! Let me know if you remember what movie that’s from, because it sounds hilarious and right up my alley.
Tamara – How Could I Have Forgotten BACON? Of course, anything involving bacon becomes a candidate for a Perfect Last Bite. Unless it’s microwaved bacon. Then, not so much.
Today’s Perfect Last Bite: Pepperoni Pizza Bagel. Yummers!
Perfect Last Bites I’m Currently Craving: Chicken Makhani (spicy) and naan bread from Bombay Indian Grill. (insert Homer Simpson sound here… mmmmmmmmmmmm)
